Community Service Quilts Travel to Canada

These two quilts were sent to a program in Canada which serves women and kids, Yukon Women's Transition Home in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. The quilts will be distributed to women's safe houses in several of the Yukon's small, isolated Northern communities. The Yukon Women's Transition Home has recently opened a new 10-unit second stage transition housing complex. Quilts will go to the women and their children who are escaping abuse and starting over in a new life, making use of the services provided by the organization. Thanks to everyone who helped make the blocks.

This first one is from our 2014 block. Sally assembled the quilt, and it was quilted by Missouri Star Quilt Company.

This one is our 2015 block. Carol assembled it, and Nancy B. quilted it.

Carol may have a few nine-patch blocks left, enough to make one or two more quilt tops. If anyone still has 2014 or 2015 blocks at home, you can still make tops and turn them in -- Or turn in the blocks so they can be used by our two new Community Service coordinators: Beth K. and Tricia M.

Our 2016 Quilt Show

The Dakota County Star Quilters annual show is up and will still be there through Friday, May 6. You still have time to attend! Here are pictures of some of the beautiful quilts.

If you get a chance this week, take a look at the show. The quilts are much prettier in person than in photos.
